I would like sharing with you my own witnessing & direct experience of how multiple groups youth students have been acting & behaving in a Toronto Public library every school day after school for hours shortly after the Youth Hub has been implemented in Toronto Public Library since years ago Once a few of these students indicated they are doing very much same in their school library, i.e. noisy on-going social activities, swearing, chasing each other, throwing heavy books or basketball at each other, teens cuddling & kissing one another in school uniforms, engaging highly violent & graphy computer games & so on. One of recent comments from a high school students responded about 2 month ago '' what rules?" when a library staff explained to them about rules of shared space, be respectful of other library customers who need a quiet space to work, study & research, etc. I used a supposedly '' quiet computer area " in a public library that has a youth hub program. Almost every school afternoon, some of these youths wearing school uniform march into this room, occupy & have their noisy interactions, yelling, swearing, watching porn, gossiping, game fighting with each other & turn this otherwise & supposedly quiet library room into their own social party & play room. I am using library resources heavy on a long term basis & keep complaining about noises, safety concerns & much disruptive behaviors involving mainly youth groups after school who can be found having their own fun & noisy parties in many library areas OUTSIDE their Youth Hub program room (& they still grab large quantity of program foods but not participating in the youth hub program) I feel that our public libraries also play a vital part in endorsing, supporting & cultivating these sorts of behavior of our youths as their mischief do not get any real punishment after multiple warnings, or even so-called final warnings when I keep complaining multiple times almost every afternoon. NO REAL SANCTION AS I CAN SEE. I feel that TPL cares much more about program statistics & continued funding than addressing REAL & NEVER-ENDING concerns originated from poor management of their Youth Hub program Consequently, one intentionally caring & community program aiming to help marginalized youths in vulnerable locations quickly turns into a source of disruptive & highly annoying behavior to many normal TPL customers because of poor program execution & administration I simply feel sad & disappointing how these young Canadians whose education & programs we all fund have been behaving in public places & how some of them consistently show no concerns over how other people around them are being negatively affected by their excessive, ongoing loud noises & mischiefs

What a great pleasure to listen and watch this interview. I was one of the lucky ones to have heard the great Jessye Norman in person in small and large halls, both concert with piano and orchestra and full opera. She was not only a highly intelligent and perceptive person but the possessed one of the the great voices of all time and used it brilliantly and was highly musical. Her voice made an impact in person that is hard to imagine, unless you heard her. Correction Ms. Wachtel: Martina Arroyo was a splendid Elsa in Lohengrin at the Metropolitan opera in the late 60's before Ms. Norman. Grace Bumbry sang Venus in Tannhauser at Bayrueth in 1961. Also Ms. Norman never sang Isolde on stage though she did sing most of it in concert and nor did she sing Elsa on stage but did record it complete! Do your research! You're a librarian. It's a bit insulting to assume that black women did not do things they actually did and did superbly.

Catton is such a great writer. Each of her books is a kind of gift. And each is unique. She is one of the cleverest, most perceptive writers today. I'd rather be able to savour a relatively small output of well crafted work, then read multiple, too quickly released, shabby/predictable works.

2 questions, and I'm really not trying to be a pain: 1) Who thought it was a good idea to call it something most people will struggle to pronounce, much less remember? 2) Where the heck IS it? All this excitement over a name, but you couldn't be bothered to tell us where to find it?

This is how I heard it: EEDANOHNA WASTEENA. 2) I don't understand why the address/location was omitted from the post. The library is located at 100 Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Ln. It's east of Bayview, just north of the 401.
